So i've gone through the liberty of trying to break down every team in like a very short paragraph and because for the most part i've been sorely paying attention to the panthers and thanks to a youtube channel. I i highly recommend the hockey guy. I don't know if you've heard of him. But he's a very very good youtube channel. He does breakdowns of the nhl. Pretty much every day. Every game so Thanks ham in a few other articles and things. I've been able to piece together. The entire picture of the nhl surprised me especially some some some welcome surprises but other things. We're like okay. Yeah that's pretty much the same and hello. let's start with our division. The divisions are. I don't know if you notice charles. But the divisions are sponsored this year. Because no i just knew they got realigned because of the Virus but i did not know selling divisions yeah we are selling divisions so we are not is it. Okay if it's not ky. So i mean you. Have the la clippers. Were in the bubble thing where we're telling everybody not to have any physical contact. We're going to apposite. Hey kinda lonely can only go on bubble so the discover central division so discover card for five people that have one of those. I have on those. I almost got one. Just so i can get the panthers one. I just wanted the panthers scored. I was never gonna use it. I just wanted the panthers card. So let's let's go through the tampa bay lightning. Let's start with them. Get them out of the way. Talk about them as much as as much pains me. Yeah they're trying to be mad about it. Yes we eat some humble pie here so it's okay you can be angry and have your vegetables at the same time. That global team yes they. They're a good team especially they're still doing good now even with kucherov out of the lineup for the entire season. They're managing to mitigate any damages that you know missing him could cause them they. I mean you're the rainy cup champions.

You better be able to play without you know. Even though he is one of the best players in the league you better be able to manage you have a perennial norris candidate on defense. I mean it's you just have vest winter in net. Like yeah and you as much as i hate. The they didn't lose lose many of their pieces aside from for. Hey which we're all happy about. So cordray was fit within the cap so thankfully came on over to the side of florida and he's doing very very well side of that yet. Lightning still look like the team to be in our division for now even without kucherov so still dirty team and i hate them but you know you see what happens when the team finally pushes the buttons. They kinda they they. They stooped down to the low level. That's what happened. But the get guys like erik cernak who just tries to end people's career sometimes good as always has clean hits. Oh if he's he's a good dude he's a good dude right. He's just you know you can only you can only earned the nickname of the butcher for doing good things like ethic beard. Come on now. So let's let's move on. Let's go to the florida. Panthers who are sitting very high in the division and i i. It's because of the as the ice. Oh wary of them being this quote unquote good to start the season which is very surprising for the panthers in general because they always have slow starts to their season and then they have to catch up and then we're playing the whole. How many games in hand do they have been season. And now they're not an. I'm uneasy and i didn't feel this uneasiness back in two thousand sixteen when they last won division but i feel it now because of the last few years. Well you know in two thousand sixteen. They weren't good. They did not deserve to win. The division longo carried them to that division wind. That team was not good and everyone we we won the division. Everyone was like. Oh my god now. We all got blinded by it. Yeah and there was so many flaws in issues with that team that longo hid and now i'm still wary of them just because like you said the ptsd. And i this week on my podcast that this coming to the end of the month. We will know what the panthers truly are. This is before the tampa series which they've won two three in They have carolina. They have to easy back to back against detroit. But then they have three games against hours including back to back in there and then carolina again at the end of the month and this will really show us if this team is for real. They've already gone through. Their first has with tampa which was what we were all expecting to be either first test and they went to and one albeit lots of goals being scored albeit two lopsided games and the last game which was a barn burner. Yeah exactly but they still kept up with them which is saying something and they have some grit to them filing some edge. Thanks good us. Thanks horn quest. That i mentioned all berries ito Moves that have come in have helped change the perception of maybe another year with finally with the coach q. They're finally buying into a lot of systems and things like that but the defense vastly improved not completely improved not fix. But it's getting there but the goaltending still bothers me. Because i said because we're getting around the quarter mark of the season already with because it's only fifty six games. The panthers needs to make a really hard decision and christopher should be the number one goaltender going forward. I yeah i get bob as being paid a lot but but you can pay him and he says he's been uneasy cops fallacy you some so much money and investment into this and you're just like well i'm going to just keep writing it out and just keep going. I don't know if you follow baseball by. The marlins signed a pitcher named way and chen few years ago.

For one of the worst deals that you can give a pitcher and he was just awful an awful assigning getting paid like twenty two million dollars per year to be an awful awful pitcher and then they finally bought a mountain that last season. So oh i guess fortunate. Ruto your everybody. There knows of what he and chan. He's a big baseball fan. Marley his second. But he's a big cleveland indians guy. Oh definitely you gotta get the after this offseason all right. So so yeah. This is the reminds me of that and we might just have to bite the bullet on bob at some point especially when you have these other goaltenders that you're developing you logo crate his goalie development program. Whatever the heck that is so we have this whole thing. We can't just have like he's going to be here for what seven years so it was a seven year contract and we're year to so yes and you have. You have goalies in the system. Wide sam montenegro. Who we still don't know what he can be or what he is. Because signing bob to this albatross contracts clark. The system you ryan. Bednarz is currently in the e. c. h. l. He's an ec- gel right now because we don't have our own. Ahl affiliate this year were sharing with the lightning because charlotte doesn't wanna run during the pandemic year so now instead of him being in the h getting proper development. He's in the hbo. And then you have spencer night coming up which i think. He's done in college after this year. I don't he's he's just dominating college he has nothing else to learn there. And you you just have this logjam. Now i mean. The panthers had both of their prospect goaltenders finished the world juniors on on both sides of canada usa so learners people that are wait. Get into what. yeah exactly. Yeah but i am cautiously optimistic. I'll say the farm system is great. Prospects is what i mainly like started with. I made a nother twitter page which is At cats prospects because A while ago you know we had cats on the prowl. Doing a lot of yeah prospect stuff and he left because he got busy with life and i was like. There's this huge void. Here for the florida. Panthers in social media news i was like will let me fill this and try and build a platform off of that so i i watch a lot of prospects if i'm not watching the nhl watching the k. H. l. a. league or the s h. I'm watching all hockey league's constantly the better job than i do. Because i. i hate prospect watching ed. I just. I've been burned so many times by bus and the panthers have been have been very awful in the town years. Say for barak often. Latin hubert oh and for the most part adding drafted very well. Get rid of because even though. I'm not a big hockey. I understand the concept of having destroyed out these terrible contracts with a salary cap or sally floor that you have to deal with him while we spoke about it at the last season redoing. It probably like god like early eighty. We talked about who you can see getting out. There will be who go off at plattling names. I remember what is there for both of you. Is there somebody now that you said. Hey let's kind of get rhythm while it's hot so we can get some of those other pieces that we might need going into the season. Because if i'm not mistaken you're about what a third of the way through your season now.

Yeah they're about santa quarter. I would say so close into. But is there somebody that you know that you want to be the sacrificial lamb to make the team more complete especially if you have to catch up to the lightning or all the other teams in the conferences. So it's trading. Someone i think is good. Someone completely hate and just want them off. The team is what we're going with. I would say who has to be that sacrificial lamb because to my knowledge what francisco has told me that the contract situations can be very tricky. Especially if you got rabovsky is as name. I wanna throw but again so i'm gonna call libro so when you got the bro but i believe you have to pay out at blat i retaining. Thanks francis go. What is this both all the guys that you have. Is there somebody contract. That is kind of impeding. That could possibly be impeding your success that you think would be a good move. You guys could be more complaints from what i'm hearing. You guys are hope for the future. But they're still reservations and you wanna compete note. Team suggests play second fiddle. Somebody that you think. Hey aside from who was mentioned earlier would Bob because you're you. You're suck five years remaining on that contract. Does anybody else. That's on there would be. I can say positions who the hell wainscott words enforcers go on lecomba self but the two contracts out to me that. Hold them back. Besides bob is brett connolly and anton straw man he's a serviceable defensemen. But he's he's just too much like his positioning a solid his brain is solid but he just isn't fast enough to keep up sometimes. I almost wish we could have just taken his brain and put it in matheson's body and i would've dollar problems and those two contracts your i mean connolly's on the fourth line now and he's making almost four million a year and it just doesn't make sense. There's no room for him Strengths making three point. Something for another after this one. He has another year on his contract and it just yeah but if i had a trade someone good. It's anthony declare. Yeah yeah. I think i didn't like the signing. I declare like declares the player a lot to one. He only got one yesterday. They pull back the other one okay. It took them this long to get it but yeah knocking on door. It's been he's been close like he's been snake bit more than anything. Yeah and that's the thing. That's the thing i feel like. Maybe now maybe the floodgates opened for him but he's he's streaky normally anyway. And you have you have owen tippett. Just sitting on the third line and typic- can do these things that you want from declare and he supposed to be one of the best goalscorers for the future of the nhl and you're just letting him sit on the third line. He's not getting any power play time. I think declares kinda clogging the spot that you could just use for him. And i think if you can flip declare to someone and just Tippett step up. That's what it should weeks burnham for awhile now so yeah and he his first goal yesterday and he's he's had a lot of good looks but i complain about my podcast a lot but he doesn't get power. Play time and coaches need to not every player on your team needs to be a great two way guy. That's it's okay for someone to be an offensive specialist. It's okay let that be that. And the panthers and the panthers are our need of guys like that it's exactly and he's currently on a line with frank the tank for tronto and at to loose orion and they've been getting a lot of defensive zone starts instead of being sheltered and getting a lot of offensive zone start for tip. It can really you know. Get better shots on net right. Yeah he's he's getting put in the defenses on a lot because at to ryan. I mean he's such a good two way player. He's so good defensively and he's a guy. I was advocating for that. He could get that three c spot this season. Because i i was watching him. Play over in finland league and i was posting highlights of ham. And i was like this kid. Good like t should get a chance and low behold he got the third line center this this this year legal challenge and that always matters in any sport because you can have guy who's doing great guys bit bad players never leaving their contracts militia out cash considerations draft picks or a supplemental player. But it's very weird. I feel like it's always gonna be reborn for me an opportunity to watch the hockey season and seeing 'cause i asked francisco of the panthers who were not awfully good.

So that's why i focus on like when you have to move a player to get the more Supporting pieces as we're like my mentality takes me 'cause even though we know you can sign all the best players world have all the best players You're only at best player. A very good player for that time period in one set contract of enders and you can get more better people than in that full rebuild but anything you be an any kind of contentious especially since This is kind of just a weird year. I always tell people we talk about the show. Every season of a of a sports season during the virus season is always going to be like asterix season until we get more of the Fleshed out play. That might not be available to decide. Let me get insight because for me. We have a segment. Call to learn a goof. And i feel like these. Are my little learner. Goof many sessions. Where i'm going to be quizzed on probably halfway through the season that if i'm paying attention i remember names and the crap. Well let's let's go onto the next team. The carolina hurricanes best boy position team the league. Yeah i think carolina's actually the team to beat in the division. Ooh i think there are a better team. The tampa funny. They are the best position team in league. They've played three quarters of their season on the road. They won't have like three home games and they've won all three of them and they're playing really well. Go buddy tro check is over there now and the there they they they they look good. They look good. Why just what. I feel like. They're gonna hit their stride once they start playing a ton of home games. And that's gonna be really scary for carolina. Goaltending is always the question for them for me. How consistent is peter maroshek gonna be. How consistent is james rhymer gonna be you know with rhymer. You never know. Rymere's being killing it there and i mean i i hope church finds a nice new home there. I mean i. I know tro check had to go. He was never be the same guy that we loved. I mean he's still tro but he's not going to be the same player after his injuries. And he has like half an ankle left after all surgeries and am and we got a trade deal. He's really remaining piece. and i i'm i'm happy. We got him. And but yeah. I mean carolina has you can call their goaltending mediocre inconsistent but they had the best defensive core in balik no question the best defense and they have so many guys sit hitting waiting who are also other taxi squad right now and i. I don't see how you're gonna beat that defense. They managed to win with zamboni driver a net last year because their defense is that good and otto intervene in haven't even hit their stride yet. This season there underperforming and they're still winning these games. And it's just there. I think they're the team to beat in the division next next the columbus blue jackets are the the soap opera team at this point Yes the torch show. Yeah they're five three. I think this is last season by the way i. I can't see if they're rumors easily tired or coaching and then pretty much. Nobody wants to be in columbus ohio for some reason so i don't know what what is what's up what's the deal there. I don't know if there's no not enough things to do while you're stuck inside. I have no idea. But since pure look dubois trade and at sorts. Yeah i mean they got patrick in that trade back and jack russell vick who's really been hitting his stride because he's been he was underutilized. Winnipeg and you want to talk about clogged systems. That one right there. He was buried there just like we saw river hagi coming here. He has his chance to shine now. Jack russell vich has his chance to shine in columbus and he's taking every single advantage of the situation and of course now he's gets play with patrick line. One of the best goalscorers he. I'm glad i'm pissed. We have to play him now. I was glad you know winnipeg. I'd have to see him. He terrorizes the panthers. That's true and finish. Finish face off between him. Embark off every. I honestly wish we traded for him so him off. 'cause they trained together in the offseason. They're like they're like buds in the call of duty together every every inch.

Yeah exactly so. There would have been perfect. I mean the nhl fricken had that the two game series in finland because of those two. So yeah and there. I mean columbus is going to have a lot of questions going into the offseason. So i don't know if they're in like desperation mode. Now i mean is only going to get a team so far and i say this as someone who is also a part time ranger span and has seen towards his coaching firsthand. There are hard working team. They're probably the second hardest working team in the nhl. But how long hard work going to get you. If you don't have skill to also help and no. Dan is going to have a hard choice. This offseason with their goalie situation having bulldog jonas corpuscle low in this. Moore's lincoln's the seattle expansion draft is the season. And one of those guys was probably gonna go do you. Trade one beforehand. So at least that's something back. They're going to have a lot of tough choices heading into the offseason. And i don't know how much it looks for them. Outside of the season if this is like a big shot for them to try and do something now than that or they they decide to hit the reset button trying to improve their image of of columbus. Because it man. I don't know who the pr person for the blue jackets. But they need to start doing a better job. 'cause because like nobody wants to play there the nhl or or one of those hockey riders polls have pulled nhl players. It was like one of the fourth least wanted place to go to in the in the league which is crazy okay. All right columbus ohio. Nobody wants to be as chicago chicago. Yes surprise mixture of the relics of the of the of the dynasty. But the rebuild rookies in their there. Yeah how far is kevin lincoln and gonna take. This team is quite has. No one knows who. Kevin lincoln and is like two years ago a year ago. Like who is this like. How long is he going to be able to sustain this level of play and are the blackhawks. Just kidding themselves. Like at what point do you just say. Okay let's stop half assing this and he'll tank like i don't know what point put off this rebuild for so long like a welcome surprise. And they're doing this without jonathan taste of doing this without Kirby dock and patrick patrick. Kane's got a metric later and everything for them. So is he still waking up in the morning. Okay the patrick. I'm still gonna be scoring however goals bring to bring. It's having a bounceback season. He wasn't happy with his performance last season. he's really having a bounceback. Season duncan keith. Is it still a workhorse. I mean you can't get this man off the ice. I don't know what you have to do for him to finally get off the ice. But i mean at his age. He's still doing it. And i don't know how long they're gonna i feel like they're overperforming and we're going to see them slip back down. I mean they weren't especially to be one of the worst teams elise. Well they're also still their six points up on dallas right now who is projected to be the other big team in the division which will get to them. Yeah so i'll just segue with this. Dallas has only played twelve games where chicago's point seventeen. That's only six points behind. That's what i have noted that they haven't aside from joe pavelski doing some really good at his age for the stars right now. That stars haven't had a chance to really get going because it seems like when they start getting going then the virus hits and then they add as long losing streak which was not good. But i feel like part of that is the fact that they just can't seem to get going with the ski me like a routine as if you're stop and play and then the can't practice you can't do this and yeah of course they're going to have some bad performances so i feel like they've been unlucky to start the season because of you know it's so hard to get a consistent rhythm when you're games. Keep getting cancelled. Analysis snowstorm just cancelled their game so had a slip of all places and they have. I love dallas They're like i don't wanna say guilty. Pleasure team was mine to watch. But they're i like a lot of the players on that team. I love absolutely love watching miro heiskanen. He is gonna be one of the best defense in the nfl. He already is and he still so young. And he's already getting comparisons to nick lynch trump which is high praise because in my opinion nicholas from is the best defense Okay wow and. He's already getting compared to that because he's so young and he just has this calm so such a calm composure. And he's always doing the right things on the ice and he's always in the play in the right spot it's incredible and they have Rupee hands they have Joel kiviranta they have Denis gurianov these young kids just bolstering their lineup with the veteran presence of polski.

And esa lindell john klingberg tyler sacred still out but they had jamie benn it physically the reasons why they made the final last year essentially. Yeah and they've made it without. Ben bishop and i know ben bishop is The guy from spongebob with glass bones in paper skin and he's always hurt but like when he isn't hurt he has been consistently one of the top goalies in the nhl. And they doing good without him. Just wait till he comes back and i hope he can come back because he's a great goalie to watch and they're doing this with anton khudobin. Who had a great postseason and jake injure who. It's funny. i just went back and was watching the twenty seventeen world juniors where he was on that team for team usa. And i was like oh he was there. I didn't even realize because some of these guys who just don't pick up. Yeah they they have a lot of young young guys bolstering that lineup to didn't get a lot of playtime last year and now they are and it's they're doing what they need to do and that once again wants dallas gets a normal routine is interrupted. I'm sure they'll they'll be fine. They'll be final thing. They should panic unless this goes on. If we're at the halfway point in this is still happening then you might start hitting the panic button. Tara does their goal song. Blake notch your for that. I love their goal horn routine every day. We'll go also don't necessarily get to play a lot of the world junior. When there's a clear numeral no and jake will certainly do well for dallas in the future in my very biased opinion. Oh yeah he will be very good. I think he was behind tyler. Parsons who is now. A calgary prospect in the that world juniors and he hasn't done a lot of playtime up there and jake girardi is so we'll see how that goes. Let's move on the nashville predators. Most disappointing team in the league. So far this is the most expected really It's projected i mean. They have been down trending sense. They made that cup final. But yeah well. They've the unlucky scheduled play tampa all this time. They lost all four games salute to the bolts and the they need to make some decisions. I feel like the predators needed to make a decision.
